EDC Inc Server Performance Monitoring and Optimization Policy
This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for monitoring and optimizing server performance at EDC Inc. It is designed to ensure the efficient operation of our servers, minimize downtime, and maintain the highest level of service for our clients.
1.0 Policy Statement
EDC Inc is committed to maintaining the highest level of server performance and reliability. This policy provides the framework for monitoring, managing, and optimizing server performance to ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.
2.0 Scope
This policy applies to all servers owned and operated by EDC Inc, including those hosted on-premises and in the cloud. It covers all aspects of server performance, including hardware, software, network connectivity, and security.
3.0 Roles and Responsibilities
- IT Server Operations: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of servers, including OS patching every 30 days or as approved by IT Security through an “IT Exception”.
- IT Server Build Operations: Responsible for the initial setup and configuration of servers.
- IT-SOC (Incident management): Responsible for managing and resolving any server-related incidents.
- Corporate Physical Security: Responsible for the physical security of on-premises servers.
- IT Security Operations: Responsible for the security of servers, including approving “IT Exceptions” for OS patching.
- IT Monitoring Operations: Responsible for monitoring server performance and identifying any potential issues.
- IT Database Operations: Responsible for the performance and integrity of databases hosted on servers.
- IT Audit and Compliance: Responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy and any relevant regulations.
4.0 Server Performance Monitoring
EDC Inc uses a variety of tools and techniques to monitor server performance. This includes the use of Active Directory for user and service accounts, and CMDB as the inventory management tool. The IT Monitoring Operations department is responsible for monitoring server performance and identifying any potential issues.
5.0 Server Performance Optimization
EDC Inc is committed to optimizing server performance to ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. This includes regular OS patching, hardware upgrades, and software updates. The IT Server Operations department is responsible for these tasks, with oversight from the IT Security Operations department.
6.0 Change Management
All changes to server configurations, including OS patching and hardware upgrades, must be approved by the Change Audit Board (CAB). The IT Server Operations department is responsible for submitting change requests to the CAB.
7.0 Compliance
All servers must comply with this policy. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination. The IT Audit and Compliance department is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy.
8.0 Review and Updates
This policy will be reviewed annually by the IT Audit and Compliance department. Any updates or changes will be communicated to all relevant parties.
