EDC Inc Mobile Device and Remote Work Policy
This policy outlines the guidelines for EDC Inc employees to ensure the secure and effective use of mobile devices and remote work technologies. This policy applies to all EDC Inc employees, contractors, and third parties who use mobile devices to access EDC Inc resources.
1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to define standards, procedures, and restrictions for end users who have legitimate business requirements to access EDC Inc’s corporate data from a mobile device connected via a wireless or unmanaged network outside of EDC Inc’s direct control.
2.0 Scope
This policy applies to all EDC Inc employees, contractors, and third parties that use mobile devices, whether owned by the user or EDC Inc, to conduct EDC Inc business or interact with internal networks and business systems.
3.0 Policy
3.1 User and Service Accounts
All user and service accounts are managed in Active Directory. The IT Server Operations department is responsible for managing these accounts. Any changes to these accounts must be approved by the Change Audit Board (CAB).
3.2 Mobile Device Management
All mobile devices that connect to the EDC Inc network must be approved by the IT Security Operations department and registered in the CMDB inventory management tool. The IT Server Build Operations department is responsible for ensuring that all mobile devices are configured, updated, and patched according to EDC Inc’s standards.
3.3 Remote Work
Employees are allowed to work remotely provided they follow the guidelines set by the IT Security Operations department. The IT-SOC (Incident management) department is responsible for monitoring and managing any security incidents related to remote work.
3.4 Patching
All servers must be patched every 30 days by the IT Server Operations department. If a server cannot be patched, an “IT Exception” must be approved by the IT Security Operations department.
3.5 Compliance
All users must comply with this policy. The IT Audit and Compliance department is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy. Any violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action.
4.0 Policy Compliance
The IT Audit and Compliance department will verify compliance to this policy through various methods, including but not limited to, business tool reports, internal and external audits, and feedback to the policy owner. Any exception to the policy must be approved by the IT Security Operations department in advance.
5.0 Exceptions
Any exception to the policy must be approved by the IT Security Operations department in advance. An “IT Exception” form must be completed and submitted to the IT Security Operations department for approval.
6.0 Non-Compliance
An employee found to have violated this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
7.0 Contact
For any questions or clarifications regarding this policy, please contact the IT Security Operations department.
8.0 Policy Review and Modification
This policy will be reviewed and possibly updated annually or as needed by the IT Audit and Compliance department.
