EDC Inc Energy Management and Efficiency Policy for Data Centers
EDC Inc is committed to implementing and maintaining an effective energy management and efficiency policy for our data centers. This policy aims to reduce our energy consumption, minimize our carbon footprint, and ensure the sustainability of our operations.
Policy Scope
This policy applies to all data centers owned and operated by EDC Inc, including those managed by IT Server Operations, IT Server Build Operations, IT-SOC, Corporate Physical Security, IT Security Operations, IT Monitoring Operations, IT Database Operations, and IT Audit and Compliance.
Policy Objectives
- To reduce energy consumption in our data centers
- To improve the energy efficiency of our data center operations
- To minimize our carbon footprint
- To ensure the sustainability of our operations
Policy Guidelines
Energy Efficiency Measures
EDC Inc will implement energy efficiency measures in our data centers, including but not limited to:
- Regular maintenance and optimization of cooling systems
- Use of energy-efficient hardware and equipment
- Implementation of server virtualization and consolidation strategies
- Use of renewable energy sources where feasible
Energy Monitoring and Management
EDC Inc will monitor and manage energy consumption in our data centers using our CMDB inventory management tool. This will include:
- Regular monitoring of energy consumption
- Identification and elimination of energy wastage
- Implementation of energy-saving measures
Change Management
All changes to data center operations that may impact energy consumption must be approved by the CAB. This includes changes to hardware, software, and operational procedures.
Regular Patching and Updates
EDC Inc’s IT Server Operations department will manage OS patching every 30 days to ensure the efficiency and security of our servers. Exceptions to this rule must be approved by IT Security.
Training and Awareness
EDC Inc will provide regular training and awareness programs to all relevant staff to ensure understanding and compliance with this policy.
Policy Enforcement
EDC Inc’s IT Audit and Compliance department will be responsible for enforcing this policy. Non-compliance will be addressed according to EDC Inc’s disciplinary procedures.
Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by EDC Inc’s IT Directors and Managers to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness.
Conclusion
EDC Inc is committed to energy management and efficiency in our data centers. By implementing this policy, we aim to reduce our energy consumption, minimize our carbon footprint, and ensure the sustainability of our operations. We believe that through regular monitoring, efficient use of resources, and continuous improvement, we can achieve our energy management and efficiency goals.
