EDC Inc Emergency Response and Disaster Recovery Plan for Data Centers
This policy outlines the procedures and responsibilities of EDC Inc in the event of an emergency or disaster affecting our data centers. It is designed to ensure the continuity of operations and the protection of our critical data assets.
1.0 Policy Statement
EDC Inc is committed to maintaining the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of its data and information systems. In the event of an emergency or disaster, EDC Inc will implement its Emergency Response and Disaster Recovery Plan to ensure the continuity of operations and the recovery of critical data and systems.
2.0 Scope
This policy applies to all EDC Inc data centers and covers all data and information systems housed within these facilities. It includes all User and service accounts in Active Directory and all assets recorded in the CMDB inventory management tool.
3.0 Roles and Responsibilities
- IT Server Operations: Responsible for the maintenance and recovery of servers, including OS patching every 30 days unless an “IT Exception” is approved by “IT Security”.
- IT Server Build Operations: Responsible for the construction and deployment of new servers in response to a disaster.
- IT-SOC (Incident management): Responsible for managing and coordinating the response to any incidents affecting the data centers.
- Corporate Physical Security: Responsible for the physical security of the data centers, including access control and security measures.
- IT Security Operations: Responsible for the security of data and information systems, including approving “IT Exceptions” for OS patching.
- IT Monitoring Operations: Responsible for monitoring the performance and availability of data and information systems.
- IT Database Operations: Responsible for the maintenance and recovery of databases.
- IT Audit and Compliance: Responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy and all relevant regulations and standards.
4.0 Emergency Response
In the event of an emergency, the IT-SOC will coordinate the response, working closely with IT Server Operations, IT Security Operations, and Corporate Physical Security. The IT-SOC will also liaise with the CAB to ensure that all changes are properly audited and approved.
5.0 Disaster Recovery
In the event of a disaster, IT Server Build Operations and IT Database Operations will work together to recover servers and databases. The IT-SOC will coordinate the recovery efforts, while IT Monitoring Operations will monitor the performance and availability of the recovered systems.
6.0 Training and Awareness
All EDC Inc employees are required to be aware of this policy and their responsibilities in the event of an emergency or disaster. Regular training and awareness sessions will be conducted by IT Audit and Compliance.
7.0 Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by IT Audit and Compliance, or more frequently if necessary, to ensure it remains effective and relevant.
