EDC Inc Cloud Server Provisioning and Management Policy
This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for the provisioning and management of cloud servers at EDC Inc. It is designed to ensure the security, reliability, and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure.
1.0 Policy Statement
EDC Inc is committed to maintaining a robust and secure cloud infrastructure. This policy provides the framework for the provisioning and management of cloud servers, ensuring that they are configured, maintained, and operated in a manner that safeguards EDC Inc’s information assets.
2.0 Scope
This policy applies to all cloud servers owned or operated by EDC Inc, including those hosted by third-party service providers. It covers all stages of the server lifecycle, from initial provisioning to decommissioning.
3.0 Server Provisioning
3.1 IT Server Build Operations
The IT Server Build Operations department is responsible for the initial provisioning of all cloud servers. This includes the configuration of hardware, installation of operating systems, and setup of network connections.
- All servers must be provisioned in accordance with EDC Inc’s standard build specifications.
- Each server must be registered in the CMDB upon provisioning.
- User and service accounts must be created in Active Directory.
3.2 IT Security Operations
The IT Security Operations department is responsible for ensuring the security of all cloud servers. This includes the configuration of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security measures.
- All servers must be configured in accordance with EDC Inc’s security standards.
- Any exceptions to these standards must be approved by the IT Security department.
4.0 Server Management
4.1 IT Server Operations
The IT Server Operations department is responsible for the ongoing management of all cloud servers. This includes monitoring server performance, applying patches, and troubleshooting issues.
- All servers must be patched every 30 days, unless an IT Exception is approved by IT Security.
- OS patching is managed by IT Server Operations.
- Any issues with server performance must be reported to the IT-SOC for incident management.
4.2 IT Monitoring Operations
The IT Monitoring Operations department is responsible for monitoring the health and performance of all cloud servers. This includes tracking server utilization, detecting anomalies, and alerting the appropriate teams to potential issues.
- All servers must be monitored 24/7 for performance and security issues.
- Any anomalies or potential issues must be reported to the IT-SOC for incident management.
5.0 Change Management
All changes to cloud servers, including hardware upgrades, software installations, and configuration changes, must be approved by the CAB. This ensures that changes are properly reviewed and tested before being implemented in the production environment.
6.0 Compliance
The IT Audit and Compliance department is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy. This includes conducting regular audits, tracking compliance metrics, and reporting on policy adherence.
7.0 Policy Violations
Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Any suspected violations should be reported to the Corporate Physical Security department immediately.
8.0 Policy Review and Updates
This policy will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis, or as needed to reflect changes in technology, business requirements, or regulatory environments. Any updates to this policy will be communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
