EDC Inc Server Scalability and Resource Allocation Policy
This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for server scalability and resource allocation at EDC Inc. It is designed to ensure the efficient use of server resources, maintain system performance, and support the growth of our business operations.
1.0 Policy Statement
EDC Inc is committed to maintaining a robust and scalable server infrastructure that can adapt to the changing needs of our business. This includes the efficient allocation of server resources, regular system updates, and the implementation of scalability strategies to accommodate growth and peak demand periods.
2.0 Scope
This policy applies to all servers owned and operated by EDC Inc, including those hosted on-premises and in the cloud. It covers all server-related activities performed by IT Server Operations, IT Server Build Operations, IT-SOC, Corporate Physical Security, IT Security Operations, IT Monitoring Operations, IT Database Operations, and IT Audit and Compliance.
3.0 Server Scalability
3.1 Scalability Planning
IT Server Build Operations is responsible for developing and implementing a server scalability plan. This plan should consider future business growth, anticipated system demand, and the need for redundancy and disaster recovery.
3.2 Scalability Testing
IT Server Operations will conduct regular scalability testing to ensure our servers can handle increased load and user demand. Any issues identified during these tests should be addressed promptly to prevent system performance degradation.
4.0 Resource Allocation
4.1 Resource Monitoring
IT Monitoring Operations will continuously monitor server resource usage using our CMDB inventory management tool. This includes tracking CPU usage, memory usage, disk space, and network bandwidth.
4.2 Resource Allocation Adjustments
Based on the monitoring data, IT Server Operations may adjust resource allocation to optimize server performance. Any significant changes must be approved by the Change Audit Board (CAB).
5.0 Server Updates and Patching
IT Server Operations is responsible for regular server patching every 30 days to maintain system security and performance. Exceptions to this schedule must be approved by IT Security.
6.0 Compliance
All server activities must comply with EDC Inc’s IT policies and procedures. IT Audit and Compliance will conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
7.0 Policy Violations
Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Any suspected violations should be reported to IT Security Operations immediately.
8.0 Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by the IT Director of each department. Any proposed changes must be approved by the CAB.
