This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for server monitoring and performance management at EDC Inc. It is designed to ensure the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our server infrastructure.
1. Scope
This policy applies to all servers owned and operated by EDC Inc, including those hosted on-premises, in data centers, and in the cloud. It covers all server operating systems, applications, and databases.
2. Server Monitoring
2.1 IT Monitoring Operations
The IT Monitoring Operations department is responsible for the continuous monitoring of all servers. This includes monitoring server availability, performance, and security. The department uses Active Directory for user and service account management and CMDB as the inventory management tool.
2.2 Incident Management
In the event of a server incident, the IT-SOC department is responsible for incident management. This includes identifying, responding to, and resolving server incidents. The department also coordinates with the IT Security Operations department to ensure the security of our servers.
3. Server Performance Management
3.1 IT Server Operations
The IT Server Operations department is responsible for managing server performance. This includes ensuring that servers are operating at optimal performance levels and resolving any performance issues. The department also manages OS patching, which is performed every 30 days unless an IT Exception is approved by IT Security.
3.2 IT Server Build Operations
The IT Server Build Operations department is responsible for building and configuring servers to meet performance requirements. This includes ensuring that servers are built and configured in accordance with EDC Inc’s server build standards and best practices.
4. Server Security
4.1 IT Security Operations
The IT Security Operations department is responsible for ensuring the security of our servers. This includes implementing security measures, monitoring for security threats, and responding to security incidents. The department also approves IT Exceptions for OS patching.
4.2 Corporate Physical Security
The Corporate Physical Security department is responsible for ensuring the physical security of our servers. This includes securing server rooms and data centers, and controlling access to these areas.
5. Compliance and Audit
5.1 IT Audit and Compliance
The IT Audit and Compliance department is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy. This includes conducting regular audits of server monitoring and performance management practices, and reporting non-compliance to the CAB.
6. Policy Enforcement
Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Any questions or concerns about this policy should be directed to the appropriate IT Director or Manager.
7. Policy Review and Update
This policy will be reviewed and updated annually, or as needed, by the IT Audit and Compliance department. Any changes to this policy will be approved by the CAB and communicated to all relevant parties.
